3rd VIPER Spring School
The 3rd VIPER Spring School was organized between the 9th and 11th April 2019 in Besançon, France. This workshop was the third manifestation of the VIPER Training Program. This VIPER School is integrated in a well-organized framework where the workshops are presented in the form of summer and winter schools in order to offer a full-scale knowledge of the targeted discipline. This Spring School was entitled “Vibroacoustics of Poroelastic Materials”. During these three days, excellent expert speakers contributed to the Winter School. Six senior scientists and researchers came to share their ideas during five lecture sessions.
Scope of the Spring School: Poroelastic materials are key components of soundpackages: they make it possible to produce lightweight, efficient and easily industrializable devices. The understanding of the physical phenomena governing the propagation of elastic and acoustic waves within these materials allows their optimal arrangement, leading to the desired dissipation of energy. This spring school aims at providing basic concepts describing acoustic and elastic waves propagation in poroelastic materials, the more pertinent models and associated numerical implementations, the characterization techniques, up to advanced system designs and industrial applications. During three days, lectures are given by world specialists of this field of research, from fundamental bases to industrial concerns. The spring school is open to audience of MSc and PhD students, engineers and researchers interested in vibroacoustics of poroelastic materials.
